Tennis

General Mission:

Wilson Country Club aims to provide the highest level of service to our tennis playing members from beginners to advanced, toddlers to seniors and social to competitive players.

 

Facility:

  • 6 soft courts and 3 hard courts.
  • All soft courts have just been resurfaced, re-lined and have new nets.
  • All courts are lighted for evening play
  • Court 1 of the hard courts converts into 2 Picklball courts with free standing nets. Pickball equipment is available in the Tennis Pro Shop or Grover’s Grill after Tennis Pro Shop hours.

Pro Shop:

  • Provides full service tennis services and equipment to members.
  • Clothing, shoes, racquets, strings, are available for purchase.
  • Restringing and re-gripping services are available.
  • Privates lessons are available.
 

Upcoming Events

Saturday Doubles Round Robin. Every Saturday (weather permitting) at 9:00 a.m. Come out and enjoy doubles play. No need to sign up, just come out at 9:00 Saturday mornings, open to men and women, 2.5 NTRP level and up.

Programs

Wilson Country Club offers a wide spectrum of services for all levels of players, and all ages, whether adults, juniors, or munchkins. Private lessons, group lessons, and clinics are available.

Head Pro:

$34.00/hr.

Asst. Pro:

Group and clinic rates: Rates depend on the length of the clinic and the number of students.

Leagues: WCC has a very active women’s league program with approx. 70+ members playing. WCC participates in the USA spring league, and the BMW doubles combo league.

Tournaments: WCC hosts each year the WTF Cinny Bunn Memorial Cancer tournament and the WCC Senior Classic. Both of these tournaments are sanctioned.

Socials: WCC offers a mixture of social events including ladies and men’s night out, mixed doubles socials, and junior socials.

Pro Shop: WCC has a tennis pro shop available to accommodate all your tennis needs; clothing, shoes, racquets, re-stringing, grips, and accessories.

Guest Fees

Tennis guest fees: $4.00 weekday

$6.00 weekends and holidays

A Wilson county resident may be a guest one time per month. Outside Wilson county resident may be a tennis guest an unlimited amount of times during the weekdays and one time per month during the weekend.

Please register tennis guests in the tennis pro shop prior to playing.

Tennis Court Reservations

Court reservations for Saturday and Sunday may be made beginning at 6pm on Thursday’s. Reservations will be taken in the order that they are received on Kim Clark’s voice mail. No reservations will be accepted before 6pm on Thursday. To make a court reservation call 291-6199 ext. 247 or press 2 for Kim Clark’s voice mail. The same policy remains in effect for weekday tennis court reservations. Weekday reservations may be made one day in advance beginning at 8am.

Reservation Sheet
A court reservation sheet is posted on the Tennis Pro Shop window daily. Please check this sheet prior to playing to find your court assignment. Respect the court reservations made by other members.

Tennis Rules and Etiquette

Proper tennis etiquette should be observed at all times. Excessive noise, racquet throwing, profanity or other unsportsmanlike conduct will not be permitted. Such conduct may result in a player being asked to vacate the court. Players should walk around the fence while other courts are in play.

Court Maintenance
During the warmer months May - October, the composition courts will be closed from 11:30-1:30pm for watering and brushing. The hard courts will be open for play at this time. Your cooperation in maintaining the soft courts is greatly appreciated.

Bicycles must be parked in appropriate areas. Bicycles may not be parked on tennis deck or walkways.

Dress Code: Colored clothing is permitted. Cutoff’s, Bermudas, bathing suits and jams are not permitted. Proper tennis attire must be worn at all times while on both the hard and soft courts. Only smooth soled shoes are allowed on the soft courts. Running, cross-training, and soccer shoes are not permitted.
